Information Meeting / Open House

To support your informed decision about where your child will attend middle school, evening meetings are offered each winter.

Mid-November: An Introduction to FBA is an overview of who we are, what we do and how we get it done, and includes ample opportunity for individual questions.

Mid-January: The FBA Curriculum coincides with the Tillicum Middle School Open House for families to get a taste of both curriculum and the school environment.

Join us to learn about your options, meet teachers, ask questions and gather information. Dates and times are posted on our events calendar at least one month prior. Use the contact form to be added to our mailing list.

Student Placement Evaluations

To ensure successful placement, all students new to the FBA program must provide evidence of French language proficiency. For students who come to us from French accredited immersion schools, a copy of the most recent grade report is requested. Students are also asked to complete a placement evaluation. Evaluations take about an hour, and include a brief conversation with one of our teachers.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Since you only have to pay for the French classes and not the a full day of school (Tillicum Middle School is free), we are able to offer a tuition that is comparatively low to a full day private French school.

Despite some inflation in costs, and competitive salaries for teachers, for years tuition has remained pretty stable. Tuition is set at $3,100 per student per class for the 2017/18 school year.

Tuition has been set to be self-sustaining and all inclusive. This means that you will never be required to pay extra fees, nor make additional financial contributions, nor participate in auction nights, nor make time commitments (although we welcome volunteers!).

We believe that every student who demonstrates proficiency in French should be able to enrol in our classes. Financial assistance is available to families if cost would otherwise limit a student's opportunities.

Registrations are accepted throughout the year. Contact us to request a registration form.

Currently, enrollment is on average 8 students for each morning class, and five students for the after-school CNED class. On completion of registration you will receive contractual enrollment agreements for the coming school year.

FBA classes are open to the public and students enrolled at another middle school are welcome to attend. The majority of our students do, however, take advantage of the proximity and high educational quality of Tillicum Middle School. You will need to contact Tillicum's registrar, Suzanne Murphy, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to enrol there. The FBA Board of Directors can help you with questions and translations. Also, please note that if you enrol in FBA classes, living within the geographical limits of the Tillicum and Bellevue School District is not always necessary. If your child does not yet speak English well enough, she will be enrolled at Tillicum in classes of English as a Second Language (ESL) that will help her to be successful. Be sure to contact the school for more information about the ESL program if this is your situation.
